A mug is a hard thing to make interesting and we have not tried. What this one has is a handle pulled by hand rather than cast, with a flat notch across the top that your thumb finds without being told, and that is the entire design argument. It holds 350 ml to the brim, which is 300 ml of coffee and a centimetre of air so you can carry it upstairs. The body is the same vitrified speckled stoneware as the plates, fired in the same factory, so the glazes match on the table and the mug will not stain from tea. Dishwasher and microwave safe. The walls are thicker than a café mug, which means it takes a few seconds longer to warm through and then holds the heat about eight minutes longer than a thin one, which is the trade most people want at home and the wrong trade in a café.
